Minister addresses passing out graduates

Bibiani, June 21, GNA - Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister said it is only skills training and development that would reduce the poverty levels among the youth in the country. She therefore appealed to the unemployed youth to take advantage of the government's skills training programme to develop themselves and acquire modern and requisite skills for the job market.

Madam Horner-Sam, made the call at the graduation of 43 youths who underwent a three months skills training programme at the Intermediate Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICCES) at Awaso in the Bibiani-Ahwiaso-Bekwai District of the Western Region at the weekend. She said it is government's strategy to improve the overall economic management and to eliminate poverty through special intervention.

Madam Horner-Sam said the training would greatly reduce unemployment and make the youth economically productive, adding your new skills would only bring you money in success if you apply it on a daily basis".

Mr. Christopher Addai, the District Chief Executive advised the graduates to form cooperatives to enable them to secure loans and other jobs.

He congratulated them for successfully completing their tie and dye, soap and confectionary training.
