Sokode-Gborgame (Volta Region) 17 Oct.'98 Lt. Col. Charles Agbenaza, Volta Regional Minister has called for the creation of an enabling environment for women to have access to land and credit facilities. He said this will help the women to improve on food production and increase their ability to ensure food sufficiency. These were contained in a speech read for him by Captain George Nfodjo, Ho District Chief Executive at the Volta Regional launching of this year's World Food Day at Sokode-Gborgame in the Ho district.
This year's celebration which is under the theme " women feed the world" is designed to highlight the roles women play from food production, preparation and distribution to consumption.
It is also set aside as a reminder that access to and availability to food for all is a basic human right. GRi
