Tamale, Aug 1, GNA - Directors of Education and heads of
educational institutions have been urged to cultivate the culture of
maintenance to ensure that vehicles under their care are well
maintained. They have been told to exercise strict supervisory roles on
drivers and ensure that the vehicles are serviced regularly instead of
waiting for them to begin to develop problems. Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister, said this in Tamale on Thursday when Mr John Hobenu, the Regional Director of Education, presented 20 pickups and 10 buses to him for
distribution to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of
Education and Senior High Schools (SHS) in the region. The Minister said he was hopeful that the pickups would help
facilitate the official work of the directors while the buses would
convey students for their academic, sporting and excursion
activities. At the same ceremony the Minister received a soccer trophy on
behalf of the Tamale Senior High School, who won this year's
Senior High Schools' Milo tournament in Sunyani. Alhaji Idris impressed on students who were at the ceremony to
combine their academic work with sporting activities to help unearth
the sporting talents in them for the benefit of the region. Mr. Hobenu commended the government for the provision of
the vehicles and gave the assurance that he would ensure that they
were properly taken care of.
