Minister inspects ongoing projects at Birim

Mr Antwi-Bosiako Sekyere, Eastern Regional Minister has inspected some ongoing projects at Birim Central Municipality as part of his working visit to the area.

The Minister first inspected two lecture halls, expandable into one multi-purpose hall, which was funded bythe Municipal Assembly at a cost of GH¢179,000.00 at the Akim Oda Community Nursing Training School.

Mr Adam Narh Ahingwah, the Manager of Adnewhin Company Limited, which constructed the building, told the Regional Minister and the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Media Auditing and Development Tracking team that accompanied the Minister that, the project started three years ago and had been completed within time and would soon be handed over to the Municipal Assembly.

The Regional Minister also inspected a 1.2 kilometer road at Nkwantanum, a suburb of Akim Oda, funded by the Urban Development Grant II at a cost of GH ¢300, 000.00.

Mr Antwi-Boasiako also visited the construction site of the Akim Oda water project which is expected to serve 80, 000 people within the Akim Oda Municipality and 70, 000 people at Akwatia and its surrounding communities.

Mr Anthony Marsaano Toampomak, the Director of Operations of a Turkish company constructing the dam for the water project, said the project is expected to be completed by May 2016 at a cost of 126 million dollars.

He complained about the unplanned citing of buildings in the area which is slowing down the laying of pipe lines.
