Mr. Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Information and Presidential Affairs is still in hospital at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, on admission at Dr. Frimpong-Boateng's Cardio-Thoracic Unit. He has had a brain scan and the doctors have determined that there is neither a tumour nor a rupture in the brain. However, he has been vomiting blood and also has a bloody stool. His condition remains stable, but it is reported that he will remain on admission for a while yet.
Jake went on admission last Sunday with "laboured breathing" and a "distended stomach" and was immediately admitted following his Radio Gold encounter the previous Thursday with Kofi Wayo in which the latter revealed that Jake had referred to President Kufuor as "this Ashanti Bastard" in the night of August 8 at 8.00 p.m. when Jake was drinking gin. The encounter is alleged to have triggered off an emergency National Security Council meeting, but Ghana Palaver is yet to learn of the decisions that were taken at the meeting, though it is most likely that Jake's job was put on the line. It is also believed that Jake's admission in hospital may have something to do with his unwillingness or reluctance to answer questions about the "Ashanti Bastard" incident.

Meanwhile, observers are worried about why Jake, who is usually most garrulous with information, has not caused to be made public the fact of his hospital admission nor has caused official bulletins to be issued official bulletins on his medical condition from time to time
