Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Seidu Issifu, held a productive meeting with Fatou Haidara, Deputy Director-General and Managing Director of the Directorate of Global Partnerships and External Relations at UNIDO, on the sidelines of the UNIDO Climate Adaptation and Industrial Resilience Forum 2026 in Vienna, Austria.

During the meeting, Issifu commended UNIDO for its outstanding leadership and efforts in promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development globally. He highlighted UNIDO's impactful initiatives in renewable energy, energy efficiency and green hydrogen, and welcomed the organisation's climate change strategy and circular economy initiatives.

The Minister emphasised Ghana's commitment to climate action and industrial development, and sought UNIDO's support in implementing Ghana's Programme for Partnership (PCP). He called for deeper collaboration to facilitate the implementation of the PCP, which aims to address climate change, promote sustainable industrial development and create jobs.

Issifu also acknowledged UNIDO's efforts in advancing industrial development in Africa, particularly through the third Industrial Development Decade for Africa (IDDA III), and looked forward to closer alignment with national industrial policies and strengthened partnerships for resource mobilisation.

The meeting highlighted opportunities for expanded cooperation between Ghana and UNIDO, focusing on the circular economy, green infrastructure and industrial decarbonisation. Ghana's Ambassador to Austria, Her Excellency Matilda Alomatu Osei-Agyemang, was present at the meeting.

Ghana stands ready to collaborate with UNIDO and all Member States to advance a just transition to sustainable, circular and climate-resilient industrial economies, Issifu said.
