Minister's Bodyguards Assault KMA Guards

Armed bodyguards of the Minister of Roads and Transport, Dr. Winfred Anane, displaying brute force and political power last Sunday subjected guards at the Kejetia Terminal to severe beatings for daring to challenge a son of the Minister who had evaded the payment of the terminal toll.

The bodyguards of Dr. Anane were called in to instil discipline in the "all knowing guards" at the Kejetia Terminal, when a colleague of the son of Dr. Anane, whose name was not established as at filing this report, assaulted a terminal guard who demanded that Dr. Anane's son pay the terminal toll.

Incensed by the action of the buddy of the Minister's son, the terminal guards also "disciplined" the colleague, compelling the son of the Minister to send an S.O.S message home where the bodyguards were detailed to show the "errant terminal guards" where power lay.

Tooting guns, the bodyguards invaded the terminal, assaulting every terminal guard at sight and The Heritage learnt that in the process some few shots were fired.

Personnel of the Kejetia Police Post who witnessed the incident were stupefied into inaction and the incident was never also reported at the Police Post.

It was later learnt that following the intervention of the Minister and other top NPP hierarchy the matter has been amicably resolved.

Meanwhile, residents of Kumasi have roundly condemned the conduct of the Minister's bodyguards as an extreme show of force and have recommended severe sanctions against them.
