Chronicle -- A ten-year old class two pupil of the Amoaful Presbyterian Primary School was last Sunday evening killed instantly when the convoy of the deputy minister for local government and rural development, Mr Kofi Adusei-Poku, knocked him down.

One of the vehicles in the said convoy, Nissan Pick-up with registration number GT 9228 P, driven by one Joe Santa, knocked and killed Master Gideon Twumasi on the spot around 8pm.

Hon Adusei-Poku, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Amansie East, and his entourage were returning from his usual tour of the constituency over the weekend.

Madam Ama Serwaa, mother of the deceased, who was in the company of her son at the time of the accident, said she had to frantically wail and chase the convoy in desperation before they stopped to come to the 'rescue' of the poor boy ... but it was too late

Bekwai (Ash), April 13, GNA - The Asante-Bekwai police are investigating circumstances leading to the death of a nine year-old boy, Gideon Twumasi, at the Bekwai Government Hospital on Sunday after he was hit by one of the vehicles in a convoy of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai and the District Chief Executive.

The boy and his mother were walking by the roadside when the vehicle, bearing registration number GT 9288 V, hit the child at Amoaful.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akwasi Kankam-Boadu, Bekwai District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that the driver of the vehicle, Gafaru Fuseini, reported to the police that he had knocked a boy with his car at Amoaful.

ASP Kankam-Boadu said the boy was rushed to the Bekwai Government Hospital but he died about three hours after admission.
He said the driver was arrested and after his statement was taken, he was granted police inquiry bail.
He said, however, that on Thursday, two eyewitnesses reported to the police that Gafaru Fuseini was not the one driving at the time the car hit the boy, but rather one Joe Santa.
He said the police had invited him Joe Santa as part of the investigation.
