Minister urges increased public support for police

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Peter Anarfi-Mensah, has called for increased public support for the police to enhance their performance.

He said it was important to assist provide them with some of their vital needs - accommodation and equipment, pointing out that, the government alone could not do everything.

He was inaugurating an office complex built for the Regional Police Band in Kumasi.

The project, which cost GH¢150,000 to complete comes with large auditorium for rehearsal, offices and recording studio.

It was initiated by the Regional Police Administration with funding from individuals and corporate bodies.

Mr. Anarfi-Mensah applauded the police for the initiative and said it was refreshing that after 48 years the police band would now operate from its own permanent structure.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Regional Commander, said he was moved by the generous contribution made by the people and corporate bodies towards the project.

That could only inspire them to perform their job with renewed commitment and passion.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godfred Authur Tawiah, the Regional Music Director, said the facility would provide the officers adequate space and the right environment to carry out their duties.
