Some ministers of state are doctoring documents they are supposed to hand over to the incoming government, John Boadu, National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has alleged.
His allegation follows a similar one made by Yaw Osafo Marfo, leader of the NPP’s transition team that the NDC government is signing last minute contracts and engaging in recruitment into the security services as well as regularisation of the employment of some temporary staff in some state agencies.
Mr Boadu, speaking in an interview with Class 91.3FM’s Paa Kwesi Parker-Wilson on the sidelines of the NPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting with the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday December 15 in Accra, said: “There are a lot of NDC people going round trying to auction cars and shredding documents. Per the Transition Act, ministers are expected to file their handing over notes 30 days before the general elections, but as we speak, majority of the ministries have not done so. These are supposed to be filed at the Administrator General’s office. So it is expected that the transition team will receive these filed handing over notes from the Administrator General.
He added: “The constitution is clear that 30 days before the general elections, all these handing over notes should be submitted. If the chairman of the NDC is mindful of the constitution of this country, he should advise his ministers to stop doctoring the handing over notes.
“What will be the reason why they will want to doctor the handing over notes that have been done? Per the law, the Chief of Staff is not supposed to have possession of the handing over notes; it should be the Administrator General. These are the issues that are critical as we speak. There are some district assemblies that are giving out contracts, there are others that are regularising employments.”
