Regional Ministers have pledged to partner other relevant stakeholders to ensure congenial atmosphere for the forthcoming district level elections.

The Ministers also promised to deepen the decentralization process, and enhance regional level governance for sustainable democracy in Ghana.

In a communique issued at the end of the third Regional Ministers Conference held in Wa, the Ministers said they would vigorously use the Local Economic Development and Public Private Partnership initiatives as vehicles for promoting rapid socio-economic development at the regional and district levels.

The communique, which was read by the Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, said the Ministers would support efforts aimed at identifying additional sources of funding for the Regional Co-ordinating Councils.

The Ministers said they would work diligently, and take pragmatic measures to protect the environment, water bodies, forest reserves and the general eco-systems in the country.

The Regional Ministers charged labour unions to continue to use dialogue to resolve their concerns, to help promote industrial peace and harmony.

They called for intensive public education on Ebola, cholera and other communicable diseases to create awareness in the communities.

The Ministers also called for the strengthening of the regional security councils and district security committees, to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.

The Ministers urged government to come out with the appropriate legislation, to ensure the confiscation of equipment used by individuals and groups in illegal mining activities, and the enforcement of laws against production and possession of small arms.

On the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs Office Complex, the Ministers called for the urgent mobilization of funds to ensure the early completion of the project.

The regional Ministers reassured President John Mahama of their unflinching support for his able leadership, and promised to deliver on their mandate.
