Ministry Takes Steps To Generate Wind Energy

The Ministry of Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with a Swiss Company for the establishment of a 50 MW wind park at Kpone near Tema for the generation of wind Energy.

Active consultations are also going on with the developers to speed up work on the project. The Deputy Minister of Energy, Hon. T.K. Hammond announced these in Parliament on Friday when he answered some questions in the House.

According to the Deputy Minister, the Ministry has also received offers from other private investors who are interested in wind energy. With regards to solar energy, Hon. T.K. Hammond said the Energy Ministry is working with its development partners to support isolated communities with solar electricity. Also contacts are going on between the Ministry and investors from the private sector to explore the possibilities of providing solar street-lights in areas where necessary.
