Ministry of Finance launches survey to monitor aid effectiveness

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA-A survey to measure Ghana's utilization of all ai= d flows in line with the aid effectiveness agenda was launched in Accra on Tuesday. The survey primarily seeks to collate views from development actors on the implementation of the Paris Declaration and the Agenda for Action. Speaking at the launch, Mrs Effie-Simpson-Ekuban, Acting Chief Director, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, said the survey was the third and final round of monitoring exercises on the indicators and targe= ts in the Paris Declaration.

She said both the Paris Declaration and the Accra Agenda for Action called for systematic monitoring of the implementation of the aid effectiveness commitments at the international level. Ghana is among 81 countries participating in the survey exercise, wh= ose inputs will define how partner countries and development partners proceed=

with the aid effectiveness agenda of the Fourth High Level Forum in Busan= , South Korea. The Paris Declaration committed development partners and partner countries to increase their efforts in harmonization, alignment and management of aid for results and monitor their progress in improving aid=

for an evidence-based dialogue and the monitoring survey would have a lot= of influence on the discussions in Busan next year. Besides the survey, a Development Partners' Performance Assessment Framework was also launched to selectively monitor the implementation of international statements such as the Paris Declaration and the Accra Agen= da for Action. The (DP-PAF) also seeks to present both parties with evidence on development partners' behaviour and practices in Ghana with a view to fostering change in line with internationally agreed commitments.
