The Ministry of Health (MOH), in collaboration with UK Department for International Development is organising a training session for its Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Directors and Officers in the country.

The objective is to improve monitoring and evaluation as well as accountability in the health sector.

About 25 participants were involved in the first of the two batches of trainees to benefit from the week-long training session being handled under a contract between the Ministry and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

Dr Afisah Zakariah, Director, Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate of the MOH, said at the opening session on Monday that M& E is very key and central to the successful implementation of all policies and programmes.

She said the training would, therefore, equip participants with improved knowledge on M&E to help them transform and correct how things have been done in the past.

She explained that the Ministry has developed M&E frameworks for their use to ensure that the requisite officers are given the needed opportunity to fully benefit.

Dr Zakariah urged the participants to make maximum use of the time and opportunity given them to help transform and improve the performance of the health sector.

Dr Victor Osei, Director, Centre for Management Development at the GIMPA Business School, expressed appreciation to the Ministry for collaborating with GIMPA for the training, and promised to ensure quality outcome.
