Ministry organizes bible school for 1200 children in C/R

Gomoa Ankamu (C/R), Aug 1, GNA- The Mephibosheth Ministry in Ghana has organised a five-day vacation Bible school for 1200 school children from Mumford, Apam and Gomoa Ankamu in the Central Region. It was under the theme "champions for Christ" and aimed at equipping the participants with the gospel to enable them share what they have learnt with their peers. Topics discussed included, joining the team, getting shaped and playing your position.

Fifteen Sunday school teachers from the Bible Baptist Church in USA, led by pastor Bill Hegedus were the resource persons. Pastor Hegedus told the participants that God has given everybody a talent, which must be used during one's lifetime. He urged the children to let the words of God guide them in their daily activities and also to lead lives worthy of emulation. "You should be obedient, respectful to their school authorities and the elderly in order to have a long life as stated in the Bible". "As future leaders of the nation, you need to cultivate good habits, avoid taking hard drugs and also desist from immorality to prevent contracting HIV/AIDS.

The resource person urged the children to be careful with peer pressure so as not to land them in a very bad situation, adding that they should take their studies seriously for them to become useful future leaders. Pastor Joseph Jehu Appiah, Director of the Ministry said the Centre situated at Gomoa Ankamu in the Central Region was presently offering 23 physically-mentally challenged children, made up of 16 boys and 7 girls, formal education free of charge. He said the Centre operates on supports from humanitarian groups worldwide and admits students of any religion, race, colour and nationality.

Pastor Jehu Appiah said the Centre needed more funds to expand its existing facilities and appealed to philanthropists and benevolent groups to come to its aid.
