Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu has had a different description for the State of the Nation address, particularly the one delivered by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Parliament on Thursday.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament after President Akufo-Addo’s address, the Tamale South Member of Parliament appeared not quite in sync with the address titled – State of the Nation.
In his seeming light-hearted comment, Haruna Iddrisu thanked the President for delivering “his State of Promises Address”.
“Mr President, we have heard you on your State of Promises address,” said Haruna Iddrisu in seconding a move for the adjournment of Thursday’s sitting.
The Minority Leader’s comments suggest that he viewed the President’s address not as one depicting the nation’s current state but perhaps the President’s promises made upon taking office.
Haruna Iddrisu rounded up by comically suggesting: “I would have wished the President would have arrived here to deliver his address on a Takoradi train as he touted.”
