The Majority leader of Parliament Alban Bagbin has said the recall of parliament at the instance of the Minority is needless.

The Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adajaho has recalled members of the House following a petition by the minority over the Ford vehicle gift given to President John Mahama by a Burkinabe contractor. The House will converge on Thursday.

An investigation by journalist Manasseh Azure revealed that Mr. Kanazoe in 2012, dashed President Mahama a brand new Ford Expedition, 2010 model with engine number E173A1905101 and Chassis number 1FMJUIJ58aEB748, and in the same year, earned two juicy contracts from the government.

The Speaker’s conduct is in pursuance of Article 112(3) of the constitution and order 38(1) of the standing orders of Parliament.

But the Majority leader told journalists the recall will not serve the nation any interest.

“The recall of the members of Parliament involves the cost of publicity, the cost for notice…...you also have to pay for the cost of transportation for each member from their various constituencies to Parliament and back. This recall will also involve a lot of printing work, overtime allowances for staff because it’s an emergency and this involves a lot of work just to try to recapture something that is before a constitutional commission. It is not meant to serve any good interest for this country”.
