The minority in Parliament has threatened to disrupt parliamentary business if the attendance of majority MPs does not improve by July 15.

Since Parliament resumed in July, the minority has shouldered the burden of conducting government business due to the persistent absence of over 30 NPP MPs.

The situation has been exacerbated by the recent unveiling of NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

Speaking on the floor of the House, Deputy Minority Whip Ahmed Ibrahim criticised NPP MPs for prioritising campaign activities with Dr. Bawumia over their parliamentary duties.

He indicated that the NPP MPs continue to follow Dr. Bawumia to campaign at the expense of their responsibilities to the House.

He warned that if this trend continues, the minority would also direct their legislators to focus on campaigning, potentially leading to a parliamentary deadlock.
