The Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Benjamin Bannor Bio, has reiterated the importance of strict adherence to electoral rules to ensure a smooth and credible election process.

Speaking at a press briefing on Saturday, December 7, 2024, he emphasised that misconduct by party agents will not be tolerated at polling stations.

"So, for most of the party agents have comported themselves, we urge them to continue to do that.

"If a party agent misconducts herself or himself, he can be sacked from the polling station.

"Secondly, they need to know that if they have any issue, they need to report to the Presiding Officer for the necessary actions to be taken," he noted.

He also reminded party agents of their roles, stressing that their primary responsibility is to observe and report any concerns to the Presiding Officer for appropriate action.

"Party agents need to understand that they are there to observe. If there is an issue, they must report to the Electoral Commission," he added.

Dr. Bannor Bio also entreated the media to uphold professionalism in reporting and exposing any wrongful acts observed during the election process.

In line with promoting transparency, he encouraged stakeholders to use the designated toll-free number to report any irregularities and provide necessary information to the EC.
