Missionary Or Mercenary?

When I looked at some people who call themselves evangelists, Christians or pastors suppose to be winning souls for Christ but rather attacking certain persons who do not even beat their chest to claim that their Christians I laugh in my head.

Just because they are wearing different tags on their chest and I mean different tags as compared to the original one suppose to be worn by every true Christian who has accepted baptism, confessed that Jesus is the savoir as well as proclaimed his death and resurrection.

Worse of all, these are the people who call themselves Christians but are not being described by their ways and deeds as such by people as is suppose to be, making the soul and spirit of God the father, the son and the holy spirit weeping.

What are people professed to be Christians, evangelists and pastors suppose to do? Spread the word of life to win souls for Christ or become what I call judges of the Sanhedrin?

Turning themselves into judges of Sanhedrin and presenting themselves to people as holier than thou people in the house of the lord only to point accusing fingers at other people as not holy and for that matter should be condemned instead.

Are these holier than thou people missionaries or mercenaries?

Three gentlemen came together to start a church in a foreign land. In unity and common purpose of every Christian they embarked on a serious fasting and prayers as well as spreading the word to win souls for Christ which bore much fruits.

The church expanded with membership increasing every week. Up to sometime, greediness, selfishness, hatred, malingering, pettiness, back biting, libeling as well as cheating started to creep in and created factions to disunite members.

This rift hanged on for a long time as pastor upon pastor tried to resolve it but to no avail. Then a spirit filled evangelist was appointed to head the church at a point where there was no trust that the rift could be resolved to move the church forward.

Immediately this pastor took over, he observed the entrenched positions some members have already taken in deepening the factionalism that was killing the church but with prayer and supplication set his plan for action.

First he fasted and prayed for seven days and seven nights asking God for guidelines in resolving the matter. Just after his seventh day, he had a dream serving communion to those three litigants in his congregation.

As he woke up from bed, he went on his knees and these were the words that came from his mouth,” my lord and my God, how great thou are, let thy will be done so I will praise and glory thy name”.

Early in the morning, he picked his phone and called the principal litigant where he reminded him of upcoming communion service which he would love to dedicate the service to God and for him and other members who toiled through their blood to establish the society.

After he has finished with the principal litigant, he called the remaining other litigants and said the same things to remind them of upcoming communion service to be dedicated to God and to them for their unwarranted service to the church.

This man of God went into another seven days fasting and praying morning afternoon evening and night saying a special prayers and blessing the wine and bread that was going to be served at the communion table to turn into holy spirit fire that will destroy all the evil deeds in the church and restore unity, love and growth among members.

The three litigants attended the communion service nicely and after church service went home quietly discussing the success of the day’s service with their wives as well as their children.

Whiles discussing the sermon that was delivered to them which centered on unity love and peace for one another as Christian fellows, the principal litigant felt the urge to pick the phone and called the second person where he shared morning devotion on the phone with him.

Like a powerful miracle, the second person also picked the phone two days after and reminded him of an evening church service and the need for both of them to attend and pray for their families.

Then the third person after Sunday church service paid the first person a surprise visit where he eat and wine together with his host family.

When the pastor learnt this he was excited and again went onto his knees and prayed thanking God for his blessings and abundant grace which transformed the church saying again,” my lord and my God how great thou are”.

How many pastors in our time will seek the face of God in times of trouble that threatens the unity and growth of a church which he is a leader? Many a times, we find most of them taking a position with one faction and branding other factions as evil societies.

It is so sad to observe the entrenched politics in our churches which is eating away the power of the Holy Spirit which is suppose to be our helper. People not allowing others to describe them as Christians are rather imposing themselves on people as Christians and this is creating a huge problem in our churches.

Hypocritical Christians, freely pick quarrels with other fellow members in the faith by finding faults with them as prostitutes, drunkards, cheats, deceits, pilfers, money launderers thieves and what have sinners who needs not to be serving in the house of the lord.

But this same hypocritical Christians try to cover their own sins or things they do which are more dangerous before the lord as things he hates such as giving false testimonies about people, adulatory, lying under oath, hating some one for no apparent reason and insults.

Fellow readers, worshiping the lord is sacred not pointing accusing fingers at one another whiles even the sins we commit are more than those we accuse of.

Paul was going to kill Christians when the Holy Spirit baptism came upon him and right from there he became a new person who pushed for the protection, training of Christian leaders and establishment of churches even in areas which were declare “no go zone for Christians” at his time.

God purpose was to create man to serve or worship him and he will take care of all the remaining ones such as granting us all our needs through worship and prayer so why don’t you concentrate on worshiping the lord and pray for those who are weak but persecuting them?

The condemnation that spewed out of his mouth onto Christians, the insults, the wrongful accusations, false testimonies, the hatred, libeling, litigation, malingering and I mean the total persecution seized when he received the Holy Spirit and helped the weak to get strong.

What about you? Are you still claiming to have received the spirit but going about libeling people, accusing people, insulting people, seeing yourself as the best Christian and looking down on others as evil persons?.

The bible says watch and pray without ceasing for those that are weak to become strong. Fight for the salvation of your soul as a Christian and your duty is to spread the word of God to win souls but not to be a mercenary.

May the good Lord help you discharge your duty which is worshiping him like the angels in heaven.Amen.

End.
