Kumasi, May.9, GNA - The Mayor of Mitsu in Japan, Mr Haruo Yasunobu, on Saturday paid a courtesy call on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Chief Executive, Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah at his office in Kumasi.
The call was to discuss the possibility of the Mitsu town and the Kumasi coming together to establish a twin-city sister relationship. Already, a programme is in place to link up the Prempeh College Junior Secondary School(JSS)in Kumasi with Asahijuku Junior High School in Mitsu, which is the first high school built by the company. The success of the linkage would also help link up the Prempeh College with a similar college in Mitsu.
Welcoming the Mayor, Mr Jumah, said the two cities stood to benefit immensely from the sister relationship.
He said Kumasi had a unique culture and tradition as well as the largest auto mechanic workshop in the West Africa.
Mr Jumah said Kumasi which was the nerve centre of business activities in the country, also had the largest market in West Africa and urged the Mayor to encourage the citizens in Mitsu to come and establish businesses in the city.
Mr Yasunobu said plans were far advance to establish a food processing factory in Kumasi by a private businessman from the city. He said Mitsu city intended to assist in the provision of school projects and the establishment of sports academy in Kumasi.
