Mmrantie Association Annual 2014 Dinner Dance will be held on December 20th, 2014, 8:00 p.m. at Bolingbrook Golf Club 2001 Rodeo Dr. Bolingbrook, IL.

The buffet style dinner and dancing will also provide a platform for the president of the association to inform guest and supporters about future plans within Chicagoland and in Ghana.

"The association believes our children are the catalyst for change so we need to provide them with adequate learning tools to prepare them for the issues that will affect our generations to come", says Edward Owusu, President of the Mmrantie Association.

For the first time in its history the association has invited young African musicians to perform at the formal event. Nigerian-American songstress Nola Ade will perform for the evening. The singer and songwriter is dedicated to blending various styles of music into a genre of its own, combining elements of Jazz, Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop music. Her diverse taste in music is also reflected in her eclectic vocal style. Ghanaian born musician Moe SBW will also perform for the guest.

"Because we are advocates of our future generation, we thought it will be adequate to bring young bright talent to entertain our guest for the evening", says Owusu.

Since its inception the assocition have been able to organize events that bring the Ghanaian community together as a renewal of its community spirit. The association has also organized town hall meetings to have a dialogue with the community concerning problems facing the community here and in Ghana, as well as some of the ways to address these problems. As part of its monthly meetings, the association often has discussions on how to be good citizens in the United States. There have been occasions when the association have invited subject matter expects on health, citizenship, insurance, technology, education, etc. to come to our meetings and enlightened us on those subjects. The group of men uses their platform for career/job networking as well.

Occasionally, they have donated sporting equipment to some elementary schools in the United States notably Oak View Elementary School. They have organized a fundraiser to help Osu Children's Home in Ghana. Osu Children's Home is an orphanage in Ghana. The association also sent hospital beds to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Ghana about 5 years ago. Recently, the men have instituted a scholarship of $500 annually for our youth as a motivation for them to go college. The groups long term vision is to have a Community Hall/Cultural Center for the Ghanaian Community."
