The Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, has announced the introduction of a QR code that allows the general public and stakeholders to report any issues related to the facility at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

She made this announcement during the culmination of a month-long clean-up exercise at Kotoka International Airport and the Regional Airports.

In her remarks, Mrs. Yvonne Opare thanked the staff for actively participating in the exercise and urged them to adopt the initiative as a lifestyle, taking ownership of their respective working areas and ensuring that the environment meets internationally required standards.

She cited the adage "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" and stressed the importance of keeping the airport environment clean. She also mentioned that Ethiopian Airlines, an existing carrier, had finalized plans to commence a direct flight from Accra to Toronto, Canada in the first quarter of 2025. This, she said, will provide the traveling public with more travel options. She further indicated that Virgin Atlantic Airlines was in the process of finalizing plans to re-enter the Ghanaian market.

Mrs. Opare also touched on the increase in international and domestic passenger traffic, which she said had surpassed pre-COVID figures. She expressed optimism about further growth and a promising future.

The month of August was declared a "clean-up month" where Management and staff dedicated an hour every Friday in August for a walkthrough of the terminals and the airport environs.

The initiative was carried out by different teams aimed at identifying and addressing any issues in the passenger journey, ultimately enhancing the overall travel experience.

The idea was for everyone to collectively experience the passenger journey firsthand and contribute to ensuring a pleasant travel experience at all airports.
