...For Corruption & Financial Malfeasance
The Minister of Information, Nana Akomea says the latest reports on corruption and financial malfeasance committed during the PNDC/NDC era have been concluded and submitted to government for prosecution.
He said one of such reports is the SFO latest report presented to Parliament two months ago. He explained that, apart from the 2002 SFO report there are several grand corruption cases on which investigations have been concluded.
Nana Akomea made the revelation in his reaction to Prof. Mills?s statement in his Press Conference that the President is not attending the cases of corruption and scandals that have so far occurred under his reign, though pledged to fight against corruption. He said it is unfortunate that Prof Mills didn?t specifically give instances of corruption and scandals the President is not attending to.
Touching more on the current report on corruption submitted to the government, he said some are so huge that Ghanaians are likely to weep and mourn after the report has been made public. He charged the media to follow the case keenly and get the public well informed about it.
He affirmed government?s determination to fully resource the investigating agencies and the Attorney General?s Department enable them do their work on this particular issue with more dispatch. He said strengthening the legislation and the anti corruption agencies is the only way to move the government forward in its fight against corruption.
