James Asare-Adjei, AGI president
The president of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) James Asare-Adjei has said that challenges faced by companies due to the current power crisis and cedi devaluation could be aggravated by floods in the Accra metropolis.
The AGI president made this remark in an interview with Citi FM during a presentation of items to those affected by the recent flood on June 3, 2015 in the capital city of Ghana, Accra.
He noted that the flood affected a lot of companies and could aggravate the challenging times of companies due to the energy crisis and the devaluation of the Ghana Cedi. “…on record we have up to about sixteen companies that were affected in the Industrial Area…” he revealed.
He also added that “… as a nation, we must support the industries with the needed infrastructure to ensure their efficient operation…”
He urged residents and metropolitan authorities to be proactive in handling environmental issues to prevent any future floods. He decried that business operation sites are choked with unauthorized structures and squatters in makeshift homes.
He called on AMA to maintain sanity in commercial operating areas as it’s a requirement for the smooth running of businesses
The AGI president paid a working visit to affected companies to empathize with them on their loss last week.
