The Institute for Liberty and Innovation (ILAPI-Ghana), has uncovered more rot at the headquarters of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The rot involves Mrs. Rosetta Addison Sackey, a former director, Inspectorate Division who retired in September, 2017 but is still in possession of two government vehicles with registration numbers GV 430 - 14 (Toyota Avensis - salon) and a GV 384 - 16 (Nissan Navara - pick up) till date.

The situation has rendered officers at the Inspectorate Division helpless and further compelled them to use their own pocket money as transport.

When the former director was contacted, she confirmed keeping the vehicles because nobody has requested her to return them.

Further checks revealed that, the former director was using one of the vehicles on her poultry farm.

A statement issued by ILAPI-Ghana and signed by Peter Bismark, its Executive Director said,

‘’ As part of our efforts to help fight villainy and degeneracy to create sanity in the public sector, we have uncovered rots leading to unproductive human capital at the Ghana Education Service ( GES) - Inspectorate Division, Headquarters in Accra.

‘’Investigation conducted by the Educational Center of of ILAPI, revealed Mrs Rosetta Addison Sackey, former Director, Inspectorate Division, GES Headquarters who retired in September, 2017 is still in possession of two government vehicle with registration numbers GV 430 - 14 (Toyota Avensis - salon) and a GV 384 - 16 (Nissan Navara - pick up) till date,'' the statement added.

''In the absence of the Nissan Navara, it has rendered the 8 Inspectors incapable to regularly go for look-over to provide professional advice in our schools in Ghana. This has made the Inspectors to go out for monitoring with their own pocket incomes and often reluctant to go for inspections. ILAPI also petitioned the GES on the alleged promotional letter of the former PRO of GES, Rev. Jonathan Bettey and still the service has not replied the Institute. We call on the GES to retrieve those cars immediately for the Inspectorate,’’ the statement concluded.
