Nurseries in the area, which had been closed down because the Ministry of Education could not pay the salaries of the attendants, had also been re-opened.

Mr. Anthony Adusei-Poku, District Coordinator of the Programme, disclosed this in an interview with GNA at Atebubu. He said 3, 000 youth had registered with the NYEP out of which 351 were engaged as community teaching assistants with a monthly salary of 700,000 cedis each.

Mr. Adusei-Poku said the Programme had assisted the youth with farming inputs to enable them to cultivate maize, engaged some as health extension officers and in waste management and environmental protection. He said another group had been registered for vocational training while applications had been received from persons with disabilities. Mr. Adusei-Poku appealed to the national secretariat of the Programme to expedite action on the processing of applications for the engagement of more youth in various works.
