The General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, last Saturday tore the 2014 CDD Afrobarometre survey results into shreds after successfully showing that it is an NPP tainted and inspired survey.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s flagship program, Alhaji & Alhaji, he recalled how the CDD, in 2006, presented an Afrobaometre survey report that indicates 70% of Ghanaians were happy with the NPP government which meant that the government was going to be retained in the coming elections. Yet, two years down the line, Ghanaians booted the NPP out of office.

He wondered the kind of scientific research that could produce such a report that was proven untrue per the elections results later.

He said it is funny that a few years on, with the NPP now in opposition, the CDD produces an Afrobaometre report which indicates that 76% Ghanaians are disappointed in the current NDC government. He posited that the Afrobaometre results often favored a particular political party.

He scoffed at the fact that 30% of the respondents of the survey came from the Ashanti and Eastern regions, which are known to be sympathetic to the NPP.

He also said the claims that people surveyed were not happy with the economic situation in the country was no news because President Mahama himself has acknowledged that the economy was facing challenges which the government is trying to fix.

Many have condemned the Afrobarometre report allegedly conducted between May and July this year.

The CDD itself is seen as largely a pro-NPP organization whose activities are geared towards making the right-wing party look good.
