Moses Dramani Luri, a 38-year-old development worker who was nominated by President John Evans Atta Mills for the Position of the Sissala West District Chief Executive (DCE), has been confirmed by members of the District Assembly.
He polled 26 votes out of a total of 29 votes cast, thereby meeting the two thirds of the membership required for his confirmation by the house.
Speaking after the confirmation, Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, Upper West Regional Minister congratulated the Assembly members for having confidence in the President’s nominee.
He said, the overwhelming endorsement was a sign of unity among members of the house and appealed to the Assembly members not to end it there but continue to support the new DCE for him to deliver.
Alhaji Sulemana commended the traditional rulers for being part of the occasion and urged the new DCE to endeavor to work closely with the chiefs to bring development to the district.
The Regional Minister advised the DCE to seek the welfare of the people to demonstrate the confidence they have reposed on him.
Mr Luri, who was until his appointment, the Executive Director of the Sissala Literacy and Development Programme (SILDEP), thanked President Mills for the confidence reposed on him.
He also thanked the Assembly members for the honour done him and promised to have a closer working relationship with them so that, together they will move the district’s development agenda forward.
The newly confirmed DCE said with the Support of the Assembly members, the traditional rulers and other opinion leaders, poverty would be alleviated in the district.**
