Private legal practitioner, Dr. Maurice Ampaw has said if he were to be a politician – his statements would have caused bedlam in political circles.
He was emphatic that – “No one can stand my political statements in this country,” after describing Ghanaian politicians as dishonest people.
“Most politicians are not honest and truthful to the people of Ghana,” he told Kwasi Aboagye on Neat FM’s morning show, Ghana Montie
“Everyone who wants political power at all cost is corrupt because you then do everything to win power,” he says.
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw was reacting to one lawyer Francis Kojo Kelly Arthur after he was condemned for describing the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei as “incompetent”.
Lawyer Francis Kojo took to Facebook to address his learned friend - "Dr. Maurice Ampaw...you are the very last person I expect to pronounce on the competence or otherwise of the EC Chair...do NOT cause some of us to miss our Sunday fellowship because of your uninformed post/comments on an otherwise serious issue. I greet you,"
But Dr. Ampaw maintained his stance, saying "I don't do politics but in my humble opinion Madam Charlotte's comments [at the forum] is prejudicial to the final report of the panel members’ work. And in my candid view, l still stand by my initial comment" – thus, the EC is incompetent.
