Sekondi, July 12, GNA - A mother and her three children on Wednesday appeared before a Sekondi District Magistrate's Court for conspiracy, assault and offensive conduct.

They are Rose Koomson, mother, Grace Yeboah, Mary Yeboah and Charles Yeboah, all children.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty and were each granted five million cedis bail with one surety to re-appear on July 31. Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Adu Kyeremeh, said the accused persons had constructed a pit toilet behind their fence wall, which was not far from the kitchen of Philomena Kanjibor, the complainant.

He said the accused persons empty the pit by fetching out the water content and pouring it into the street.

Sergeant Kyeremeh said the bad scent and hazardous water flowed and settled around the complainant's kitchen and creates very uncomfortable and unhealthy environment in the area.

He said the complainant reported the matter to the assemblyman for the area, who warned the accused persons to desist from such behaviour. Sergeant Kyeremeh said since the complainant reported the matter, Koomson had never stopped insulting her, whenever they met.

He said at about 1400 hours on April 8, this year, Koomson stood in front of her house and started insulting the complainant that she was stupid, a useless woman with improper legs and body shape. Sergeant Kyeremeh said the complainant asked Koomson whether she was insulting her and she replied in the affirmative and told the complainant that, if she dare open her mouth she would pay for it. He said Koomson attacked the complainant from behind her kitchen and started beating her and the other three accused persons joined and subjected the complainant to beatings.

Sergeant Kyeremeh said in the process, Koomson bit the complainant's left forefinger and Charles Yeboah, who was holding a bicycle tyre also whipped her with it.
