Nyinahin (Ash), Sept. 5, GNA 96 The Nyinahin Magistrate Court has bonded a 31 year-old nursing mother to be of good behaviour for one year or in default serve two years in prison term for inflicting blade wounds on the fingers of her nine-year-old son.

Akua Konadu, who fetches firewood for a living, pleaded guilty and asked for leniency.

Police Inspector Francis Kpaafah told the court, presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah, that on August 9, this year at about 0800 hours, one Emmanuel Kwaku Okae heard a cry from Konadu's house. The prosecution said Mr Okae entered the house and saw that the accused had inflicted blade wounds on all the 10 fingers of the child. When he questioned the woman, she said the child had used the blade in cutting into pieces a pair of sandals she had bought for him. The prosecution said a report was made to the Nyinahin police and the accused was arrested.

Before passing sentence, the Judge said he took into consideration the welfare of the child and the living condition of Konadu.
