Mr Solomon Darko, Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, says plans are underway to relocate the offices of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
"Apart from being very old and congested for normal office work, more money is being spent to maintain the building."
Mr Darko, who was addressing members of staff of Kpeshie and Osu Korle-Clottey Sub-Metros, said AMA would acquire "a litigation free land and put up an office complex".
"This complex will include facilities like a conference hall equipped with modern communication gadgets to be hired to generate funds".
Mr Darko said proposals would be laid before the assembly for consideration whether the present building should be sold to the next-door neighbour, Bank of Ghana. He said a summit would be organised to discuss the Accra Strategic Plan, which will be the guiding policy on which the city will be developed.
The Chief Executive said there would be an exhibition to educate people on the disadvantages of living in marshy areas.
He said the exhibition, which would start in a couple weeks, would begin from the city centre and move to the sub-metro and community levels.
Mr Darko said the assembly must assist individuals in putting up places of convenience in their homes.
