Mpasatia Senior High/Technical School Tutor remanded for alleged rape

Sport Teacher of of Mpasatia Senior High/Technical School in the Atwima Nwabiagya district of Ashanti region has been remanded by the Akropong Magistrate Court into prison for alleged rape.

Alex Akwasi Sarpong 34, was arrested by Police at Nkawie and charged with rape after the case was reported to the police.

Checks from the school confirmed the victim has since packed out from the school for fear of being victimized by her colleagues after the news broke on campus.

Management of the school has confirmed such allegation has been leveled against a teacher in the school but however, declined to give further information on the matter.

Head of Legal and Prosecution at the Atwima Division of the Police Service, ASP Sylvanus Dalmeida, who confirmed the case said the accused person will re-appear in court on 8th March.

“Yes we had a case of rape against one Alex Akwasi Sarpong a tutor at Mpasatia Senior High School Technical School which has been processed for court. It is now with the Akropong Magistrate Court. He was charged for raping a 17-year old student,” he revealed.

According to the police the victims is responding to medical treatment after she being raped.

“The victim’s condition is better now, she has been visiting the hospital for review according to medical programme drawn for her” Mr Dalmeida explained.

Mrs. Helen Techie Mensah, headmistress of the school said she’s clueless about the condition of the student since the incidents happened.

“At the moment we don’t know the whereabouts of the victim who is my student, she has parked out from the school and we can’t also locate her family as well’’ she said.

The headmistress who was accused for of working behind the scene to settle the matter out of court denied the allegation.

She also indicated that she has left the matter in the hands of the police and has nothing more to add’’ she concluded.
