Mrs Thompson Launches campaign in Cape Coast

Cape Coast April 13, GNA - Mrs Nancy Thompson, a Retired Educationist and the only woman contesting the Cape Coast New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary seat, on Saturday launched her campaign in Cape Coast with a promise to work hard to move the area's development forward to enable the Metropolis to gain back its past glory. She said the time was ripe for all to put their hands on deck and work hard towards making Cape Coast a true Metropolis and not just in name.

Mrs Thompson, Former Headmistress of Wesley Girls High school, Cape Coast, said this when she addressed a well-attended forum of constituency chairmen and other supporters of the Party in Cape coast. She said when elected her priority areas would be to improve education from the creche to the university level; promote tourism; revamp and establish industries to create more jobs and also to create an MP's office within the metropolitan assembly complex to enhance communication between her and the electorate. She said the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) needed credible, committed and confident leader to manage its affairs and that she was prepared to sacrifice and bring to bear all her expertise and urged the public to desist from the practice of "pull him down syndrome" and to forge ahead with the development of the area.

Mrs Thompson said she would operate an opened door policy and would regularly organize forums for the people to help share ideas and to plan what needed to be done as one big family. She said she was sure to win the elections but was ready to cooperate with whoever won and called for unity, peace and understanding among all the other candidates and the party supporters.

Mrs Thompson said all the candidates had the people of Cape Coast at heart and that was why they were all trying in one way or the other to share with them their talents and expertise and called on the public to support them to enable them to achieve their goals.

Mr Edwin Buckman, Presiding Member of CCMA; Mr Victor Savage; Mr Amponsah Dadzie and Dr Bondzie Simpson, all contestants, were present.
