Ms Ohene elected NPP candidate for Ho-West

Dzolokpuita (V/R), April 24, GNA- The Minister of State in -charge of Tertiary Education, Ms Elizabeth Ohene, was last Friday elected the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Ho-West.

She polled 71 votes to beat her only opponent Miss Esther Djeani, Director of Private School Education of the Ghana Education Service (GES), who polled 36 out of the 107 valid votes cast.

In a speech, Ms Ohene commended the delegates for the confidence reposed in her saying the battle had just begun.

She urged the delegates and supporters of the party in the constituency to open up and convince the party's opponents into their fold to ensure victory in the December general elections.

"We are aware of the difficulty ahead of us but hope we shall surmount it", she said.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the elections, Ms Ohene entreated the people in the Constituency to judge the government by its records and renew its mandate.

She noted that with the support of all "the sky would be the limit" in wrestling the Ho-West seat from their opponents.

Mrs Edjeani pledged to support Ms Ohene and work as a team to ensure victory in December.

Mr Mustapha Hamid, National Youth Organiser of NPP urged party supporters to work hard until victory was achieved.

Meanwhile Mr Cephas Donkor, Management Consultant at the weekend beat Miss Esther Ofori, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Trade Fair Authority by 72 votes to 36 at the North-Dayi constituency delegates congress to become the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the December elections.
