Mr Ismael Ashitey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister has called on the Chiefs and Family Heads to avoid multiple sales of lands since that tendency deter businesses from investing in the Region.

He urged the Chiefs to assist and cooperate with all potential investors willing to invest in the Region to create job opportunities for the teeming youth.

The Regional Minister made the call on Saturday at the commissioning of the Villa Angelia Hotel, a 21-bedroom facility with the state-of-the art amenities located in Osu, Accra.

He commended Dr Chidi Anyaegbu, the Founder of the Hotel for putting up the facility to complement government’s efforts at creating avenues for job creation.

He said the facility would create employment and income opportunities in the area, adding that government would continue to create the enabling environment for the private sector to strive.

Mr Ashitey stated that, the hospitality industry played a leading role in spearheading the growth of the economy, stressing that the private sector thrived best under stable macro-economic conditions and in an environment where the cost of doing business was low.

“The industry plays a significant role in poverty alleviation through income generation, employment and infrastructural development for local communities where tourist attractions are located and generate revenue for the country”, he added.

He urged management of the facility to be proactive in meeting the needs of the customers at all times and maintain the facility to meet international standards.

“I entreat management to put in a conscious effort to assure staff of good work conditions of service and welfare since satisfied employees are more productive and work efficiently to the growth of the company”.

Mr Ashitey asked the staff to provide excellent services to be in a competition, because their continuous existence and successes would depend on the services they render to the public.

Mr Femi Michael Abikoye, the Nigeria High Commissioner to Ghana said Nigeria and Ghana relations should extended beyond cultural and social ties and more importantly on investment.

He stated that, the country’s initiative of ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ meant investment in economic cooperation and called on both countries to explore business opportunities to be self-reliant.

The Nigeria Ambassador appealed to Dr Anyaegbu to expand the hospitality facility across the country to offer jobs to the indigenes and solve the problem of rural-urban migration.

Dr Anyaegbu, also the Chief Executive Officer of CHISCO Group of Companies urged Africans leaving abroad to come home and invest in Africa to expand the economy.

According to him, this would help address insecurity and social vices perpetrated by the youth due to unemployment and their choice of putting up the Hotel in Ghana was because of the peaceful atmosphere it had witnessed over the years and was hopeful of expanding the businesses across the country.
