The Kumasi Police have arrested three people in connection with the murder, last Sunday, of a taxi driver at Kawokudi Junction in Accra.

The suspects, Kwabena Ofori, 30, an auto sprayer, Kwaku Owusu alias Agya Wusu, 50, a 'driving licensing contractor' and Kwabena Owusu, alias Tunde, 30, a car dealer, all residents of Kumasi, bolted with the deceased's taxi cab with registration number GW 418 P.

Briefing newsmen in Kumasi on Tuesday, Mr. Yaw Adu-Gyimah, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, said two other accomplices are on the run and frantic efforts were being made to arrest them.

He said on September 13, Police had information that an auto sprayer, Kwaku Ofori, had a taxicab at his Suame magazine workshop, whose registration number tallied with stolen car.

Mr Adu-Gyimah said the Police rushed to the workshop and impounded the taxicab, which had bullet holes at the left back door but had been plastered to conceal the holes.

The Police Commander said Agya Wusu was said to have brought the car for re-painting, so when the sprayer was arrested, he led the Police to the Vehicle Examination and Licensing Department (VELD) premises in Kumasi, where Agya Wusu was arrested.

Upon interrogation, Agya Wusu mentioned Tunde as the owner of the vehicle, and has asked him to arrange for re-spraying.

Agya Wusu further stated that Tunde would bring some money for the spraying work at his residence in the evening.

The Police laid ambush at Agya Wusu's residence at Tanoso in Kumasi and at the appointed time Tunde showed up and was arrested.

The three are in Police custody as the Police continue with their investigations.
