Accra (Greater Accra) 17 Dec.'98 All Muslims in the country have been asked to look out for the new moon (Crescent) of the holy month of Ramadhan on Friday December 18. A statement signed by the Chairman of the National Hilal Committee, Sheikh Ahmad Kojo Quainoo, asked that news about the new moon should be reported to the nearest Muslim Chief or Police station , for onward transmission to the Committee. The statement however said since the month of Shaban completes 30 days on Saturday, December 19, all Muslims are advised to keep their Ramadhan fast with effect from the dawn of Sunday December 20 , whether the new moon is sighted on Saturday December 19 or not.
