‘Mustapha Ahmed not right person for Ayawaso North’

The communications director of the Ghana Hajj Board and an aspiring member of parliament for the National Democratic Congress in the Ayawaso North constituency Mohammed Amin Lamptey has stated that the incumbent MP Mustapha Ahmed does not deserve another term.

The renowned sports analyst who is also a former assembly member for the area said Ahmed has lost touch with his constituents and must be voted out in the November 21 parliamentary and presidential primaries.

Lamptey is contesting incumbent Ahmed who doubles as the nation’s sports minister, Ali Dawoud a communications member of the ruling NDC and Yusif Jaja a leading NDC member in the constituency.

Speaking on Starr Today in the Ayawaso North constituency, Lamptey said Ahmed has failed to develop and improve the lives of the constituents since he became an MP some sixteen years ago.

“The passion is not there...how can you have an MP who never comes to the constituency until an election year,” Lamptey told host Bernard Nasara Saibu Thursday.

According to Lamptey, “he is the best person among all the other candidates due to his proven track record.”

Dawoud, another parliamentary hopeful said the youth in the constituency are disenchanted with the non-performance of incumbent Ahmed.

Dawoud said Ayawaso needs a vibrant leader who has a vision of transforming the lives and bringing progress to the constituency.

Jaja, who claims to be the youngest amongst the candidates stated that his experience makes him the standout person to represent Ayawaso North in Parliament. According to him, he has gathered enough experience working closely with some other MPs. He added that his contributions to the community coupled with his dedication is enough to see him through in the Primaries.

The NDC has won the Ayawaso North seat in every election since 1992.
