General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has once again rebuffed conflict of interest allegations made against him over his company’s involvement in the supply of blocks in the construction of the Bui Dam project.

Asiedu Nketia says though he has been castigated and endlessly denigrated by the NPP for supplying blocks to the Bui project, the Almighty God has showered his blessing on his block factory business to an extent that it continues to blossom day in and day out.

The NDC Chief Scribe, who is also a member of the Board of the Bui Authority is said to be a major supplier of blocks used in the construction of the project, a practice the opposition New Patriotic Party has cited as potential conflict of interest situation.

Though the controversy has been dead for almost a year now, General Mosquito revived the matter this week by putting on record that the easiest way to make money nowadays; is to invest huge sums of monies in a block factory manufacturing business because houses are sprouting out at every corner.

“Once I told Hon. Hackman Owusu Agyemang that if his own NPP has collapsed his Sheegelege tyre company, he should start a block factory business. I told him people have advanced in life and are putting up building structures which is a direct benefit to block manufacturers…he should overturn his decision to continue with the tyre business and invite people like myself to teach him how to invest in the block business”, Mr. Nketia said on Okay FM.

A former Chief Executive Officer of the Bui Project, Mr. Fred Oware is on record to have accused the NDC scribe of selling the blocks at a higher price which has consequently increased the total cost of the project. But in what seems like a direct swipe at those who were accusing him of selling his commodity at a higher price, General Mosquito cried that “I don’t have to force somebody to buy it. Are you trying to tell me that even if I sell my product at a higher cost and everybody is in love with it because of its quality and continue to purchase it, they don’t know value for money?”

“I haven’t forced anybody to come and purchase my blocks, if you wish not to buy mine because of its price, you can find some cheap ones around the corner…if I am to sell it at $5 dollars due to its quality, I would do it…as a person who continues to have costumers who are always willing to purchase my product, I would continue producing and care less about those individuals who are not ready to build houses but sit on radio thinking that their mere pronouncements would be carried as a charge against me”, he disclosed.
