Kumasi, March 18, GNA - Mr George Ayisi Boateng, an aspirant of the Subin constituency parliamentary seat of the NPP, has said his decision to contest the seat was to salvage the dwindling fortunes of the party in its strongholds.

He said as a founding member of the party he felt the need to revamp, inspire and reinvigorate the party and position it to maintain its strongholds and attract more people to it. Addressing some executive members of the University of Education Winneba, Kumasi campus branch of the Tertiary Education Confederacy (TESCON) of NPP during a courtesy call on him in Kumasi on Saturday, Mr Ayisi Boateng said there was the need to save the image of the party which was sinking.

He said as a leading member who had served the party in various capacities the time had come for him to represent the people of Subin in parliament to champion their developmental agenda. He urged the students not to sit on campus alone but go to the constituency and tell the delegates about his contributions and achievements to the party in order for them to vote for him. Mr Ayisi Boateng pledged to work assiduously to win the seat.

Mr Frank Amoako, TESCON President, said the students had decided to support Mr Ayisi Boateng to win the seat due to his immense contributions to the growth and development of the party as well as his philanthropist nature, which had helped many people, especially the needy youth and students to continue their education. 18 March 08
