Less than a week after the Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adams Mahama, was murdered with acid, another top party member is claiming that his life too is in great danger.

Bernard Antwi-Boaksiako popularly called Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, has alleged that some people want to end his life.

The outspoken regional chairman stated that he had credible information that a top politician in the ruling National Democratic Congress (name withheld for now) wants to kill him, adding that he could not share everything with the media.

Wontumi made the wild allegation whilst addressing newsmen in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, on Monday.

According to him, aside the death threat, the assailant was also planning to get him (Wontumi) implicated in an illegal issue “so that they would tarnish my hard won reputation.”

Despite being pushed to the wall, the NPP chairman refused to throw more light on the issue and stressed that the top man was after his life.

Wontumi, it would be recalled, is standing trial at a Kumasi high court where he has been sued for allegedly defaming President Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, in public.
