Chairman aspirant of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko says he has gathered intelligence that his opponents will use ‘Afoko T-shirted’ agent provocateurs to hoot at the party’s two-time presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo at today’s delegates’ conference.
Afoko told XYZ News that the tactic is part of several schemes planned by his opponents to cause disaffection for him and pit him against Nana Akufo-Addo.
“I have heard the next rumour only this morning that they are preparing my T-shirts to give to people to hoot at Nana Addo when he comes to the stadium…please when it happens, know that the haters, the enemies of NPP are at work. It’s not Paul Afoko,” he said.
A recent private letter written by Mr Afoko to the party’s national election committee seeking clarity on some voting rules and procedures sparked another wave of controversy.
He was accused by aides and people close to Nana Akufo-Addo, of seeking to prevent the former flagbearer, his running mate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Kufuor from voting at the conference.
