With the presidential elections just days away, political endorsements across Ghana are gathering momentum.
One such strong show of support came from Dompaase Kontihene, Nana Keteke Apenteng II of Obuasi, who openly backed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking at a durbar held in Bawumia’s honour during his recent visit to Dompaase, Nana Apenteng expressed his confidence in the candidate, saying his community stands fully behind Bawumia’s bid to lead the nation.
“Dr. Bawumia, you have our support,” Nana Apenteng stated warmly, addressing the crowd that had gathered for the event. “Our community is ready to provide the essential backing you seek to continue the work that President Akufo-Addo started. We know the vision you have for our people and the country, and we trust that you will carry it forward with dedication.”
The endorsement by a prominent traditional leader underscores the strong local support that the NPP and its candidate have cultivated in the region. However, Nana Apenteng was clear in his expectations for Bawumia should he emerge victorious.
“Once you assume the role of president,” he continued, “remember this community. We are counting on you to include our region in the nation’s development plans. Obuasi has long been a valuable contributor to Ghana’s economy, and we look forward to your leadership strengthening that role.”
