A defeated Member of Parliament in the just ended primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Aowin Constituency of the Western North Region, Mathias Kwame Ntow, has expressed satisfaction with the development he has brought to the constituency so far.

He said most of the people in the constituency wanted him to give them monies directly but he preferred using the money for the benefit of the entire constituency.

Mr. Kwame Ntow was among nine sitting MPs who lost their bid to represent their various constituencies in the 2020 elections.

Speaking in an interview with Onua FM’s Yen Sempa hosted by Bright Kwasi Asempa on Monday, the MP said “my people wanted me to give them money individually but I looked at what the entire people would benefit. I decided to do something that will benefit all the people and I think it is ok. I am satisfied”.

“I have done what I have to do so I am not worried and God will bless me.”

The MP noted that he can serve Ghana through other means and not only being an MP.

“It’s not only MP that will propel me to serve Ghana. If the NDC wins, I will get another position where I can serve Ghana.”

Deplorable constituency

He observed that he wanted to develop the area because the entire constituency is in deplorable state but his people wanted him give monies to them directly which would not have benefit the entire community.

“My place is deplorable. It’s very sad. We don’t have anything. I am satisfied with the little I have done. If they should have understood me, I would have continued the development and I wanted to go for last time”.

Challenges as MP

Mr. Ntow said “the work is difficult . I can’t sleep. People are calling for school fees and all that. People are calling you for funeral and I don’t sleep”.

He explained that “I always think of what to do and I spend a lot”

“My wife always fight with me because I spend my salary on my constituents.”
