With rising tensions between the NDC and NPP as the December 7 elections approach, many Ghanaians, including religious leaders, civil society organizations, and senior citizens, have voiced concerns about the peace and security of the nation. This recurring anxiety, often heightened during election years, has been attributed to the winner-takes-all system, which alienates a large portion of the population from the governance of the country. However, Mr. Alan Kyerematen, leader and presidential candidate of the Afrafranto Alliance, has assured Ghanaians that his victory will usher in an era of peace and prosperity.

He made the statement while addressing a massive crowd after the successful Afrafranto Mega Victory Walk in Kumasi. The walk, which attracted hundreds of thousands of participants, turned the streets of the Ashanti capital into a sea of yellow. Political pundits have hailed the event as one of the largest political demonstrations in recent memory, with an estimated 80% of the participants being youth who showed their unwavering support for Mr. Alan Kyerematen and his Afrafranto Movement. The overwhelming turnout accentuated his grassroots appeal and growing momentum ahead of the December elections.

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Mr. Kyerematen confidently stated, "What we are witnessing between the NDC and NPP is a clear indication that I am the only one who can bring peace and unite the country." He emphasized that the longstanding rivalry between the two dominant parties has deepened divisions, which often lead to tensions and disputes over election results. "The NDC will never accept the results if the NPP wins, and vice versa. But when I win, both sides will accept the outcome because my government will include representatives from both parties," he explained.

Mr. Kyerematen highlighted his plan to establish a government of national unity, which he believes is the key to resolving the polarization between the NDC and NPP. "I will bring together people from both political divides to work together for the betterment of our country. Ghana belongs to all of us, and no one should feel excluded from governance simply because their party did not win," he noted. This inclusive approach, according to Mr. Kyerematen, is essential for national peace and harmony.

He also pointed out that the winner-takes-all system has contributed to widespread corruption in the country. "This system breeds corruption because it creates an environment where politicians in power get rich overnight, while those in opposition remain poor for long periods. This fuels the tensions we see every election cycle," he added. According to Mr. Kyerematen, the exclusionary nature of the current system has led to a dangerous pattern where those who win elections consolidate wealth and power, while those on the losing side face years of deprivation.

The Afrafranto leader emphasized that his administration would prioritize the welfare of every Ghanaian, regardless of political affiliation. "My focus is on peace and prosperity for all Ghanaians. This is not about party lines, but about moving the country forward," he stated. By eliminating the winner-takes-all system, Mr. Kyerematen believes that the government will function more effectively, as diverse viewpoints and talents will be harnessed for the nation’s development.

He further urged Ghanaians to put aside political differences and unite for the common good. "We cannot afford to let political divisions destroy our country. When elected, I will be a president for all Ghanaians, not just a few. Peace is the foundation of development, and I will ensure that every citizen benefits from the prosperity that comes with it," Mr. Kyerematen assured the crowd.

In closing, Mr. Kyerematen thanked the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his blessings and the confidence he has placed in him and his Great Transformational Plan. He also expressed his gratitude to the people of the Ashanti Region for their love and support. "With the blessing of the Almighty God, Otumfuo, and the support of the people of the Ashanti Region, victory is within reach," he declared. As the sun set on Kumasi, it was clear that the Afrafranto Movement had reached new heights, with Mr. Kyerematen emerging as a formidable contender in his quest for the presidency.
