The Ministry of Trade and Industry on Tuesday alerted the public about the infiltration of certain cosmetic products on the market alleged to possess spiritual powers.

A statement in Accra said the products, which come in the form of oil, powder and soap are: Do As I Say Oil, Holy Michael Perfume, Wonderful Soap, Business Booming Kit, Fast Luck Oil and Money Drawing Oil.

The rest are: Angel Michael Spiritual Saviours All Purpose Oil, Dr. Ramas Highly Consecrated St. Michael Oil, St. Michael Spiritual Healing Oil and Do As I Say Oil with Crystal Bath Salt.

The statement said the packages of some of these products have the inscription - "prepared and consecrated by His Divine Grace Dr. Ramas, For further information contact the Director of Research, Ramas Products Limited, P.O. Box 830, Ebute-Metta, Lagos."

Other manufacturers indicated on the products are Dr. God's Powder Occult Spiritual Research Laboratory, Gem-Kay Konsult Services' and Dr. Prof. Messiah, El-Menzah Occult Spiritual Research Laboratories.

These, it said, have no contact addresses or country of origin, in contravention of Ghana Standards Board (Food and Drugs and Other Goods) General Labelling rules, 1992, (L.I. 1541) which require products to be properly labelled with information such as country of origin, expiry date, list of ingredients.

The statement said the Ministry is of the view that these products are meant to deceive the Ghanaian public, considering the outrageous functions they are alleged to perform.

It said neither the Food and Drugs Board nor the Standards Board, is in a position to verify the acclaimed spiritual powers of these products and cautioned the public to beware of them and similar ones on the market.
