Mr Osei Assibey-Antwi, Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has advised beneficiaries of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) programme to be loyal in the discharge of their duties and work hard to achieve the objectives of the programme.

They must adhere to the core values of the programme, which were knowledge, punctuality, integrity and commit themselves to sustain it to promote national development.

Mr. Assibey-Antwi, gave the advice at the opening of a four-day orientation workshop for selected NABCo beneficiaries in Kumasi.

The NABCo programme was launched by President Akufo-Addo in May this year, with the aim of helping to reduce graduate unemployment rate in the country.

The programme, is expected to engage about 100,000 unemployed graduates in seven modules-Educate Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Heal Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Feed Ghana, Digitize Ghana and Civic Ghana.

About 1,500 trainees have so far been registered in KMA, with additional 241 of them on the waiting list.

The Mayor said; NABCo would offer temporary employment to the beneficiaries to enhance their dignity and self-esteem, whilst at the same time, providing them opportunity to offer essential public services to the people.

It would also build their capacity and offer them the needed experiences which would aid them in their future search for jobs.

He was hopeful that by the end of the three year contract period, they would have gained the needed working experience and skills, which would enable them fit in the job market.

Mr. Assibey-Antwi said other interventions initiated by the government to curb the growing unemployment menace included “Planting for Food and Jobs, the introduction of the Free Senior High School, National Entrepreneurial Programme and the Re-afforestation Project.

He advised the beneficiaries to be patriotic and have the development and progress of the country at heart.
