NACOB Boss, Minister For Interior Must Step Down Now -NPP UK

Tue, 2 Oct 2012 Source: NPP UK

The NPP UK Communication Team is calling for Mr Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, Executive Secetary of the Narcotics Control Board, and the Minister of Interior William Aboah to step down from office .We also call for a root and branch overhaul of security at the perimeter at the Kotoka International Airport, the security team at the airport and security at all entry ports in the country.

The recent discovery of 4.3 million pounds of Indian hemp(WEE) discovered at Heathrow by the UK border Agency packed in fruits and vegetable cases as well as 750,00 pounds of cocaine found hidden in plantain within a space of 48 hours exposes a shocking and glaring lack of security at our airports and entry ports. The huge quantities of these drugs shows that there is widespread corruption at high levels of government and compromised individuals in these institutions.

Since Mr Akrasi Sarpong took over as NACOB boss under the National Democratic Congress we have seen an alarming increase in cases of narcotics drugs activity and a failure to tackle these activities. The cocaine turning into baking soda case, in which a suspect Nana Ama Martin was allowed to escape through cote d ivorie to the USA, the strange release of Tagor and Abass from prison, £200,000 worth of cocaine wrapped into lollipops, the smuggling of £ 200.000 worth of cocaine in Yams tubers which was intercepted at Kent international Airport in August 2010 and the widespread involvement and connivance of NACOB personnel. Mr Akrasi Sarpong, a relic from the PNDC revolutionary era is not capable to lead the fight against drugs and the same goes for Mr William Aboah ,a former inspector general of police who has not shown any leadership by keeping quiet on this issue. The recent UN report that drugs activity has been on the increase on our West African shores should have been taken seriously. Arresting compromised NACOB officers is not enough. We need a through investigation right to the top. The quantities of cocaine and indian hemp brought into the UK and its street value under the noses of security, BNI ,police shows that our security is in real crisis. Perhaps the late President Mills was right when he expressed concern to the US Ambassador in the wiki leaks report that some of his government officials may be involved in drugs.

This government and its propagandists held themselves as apostles of the anti drug establishment and went as far as smearing innocent individuals including opponents. Now here we are, a drug case every five minutes! President Mahama ‘s silence on this critical issue is even more telling .

December 7th cannot come soon enough.
